Today we have checked this issue with following builds:

All Mac
X.S 4.0.11(build 7)
Mono 3.2.1-1
Xamarin.Mac 1.6.9

We are not sure if this is just a bug in the sample but it seems like this bug is blocking some of the core behavior of the sample. Because nothing happens when user move slider, Add filter or Remove Filter.

Actually this sample is from BX era. We probably can't just use the code from the book "Core Animation for Mac OS X and the iPhone" because they are copyrighted by Bill Dudney.
