sample program that displays the problem
The standard CheckBox control shows only the Checked and Unchecked states. If you try to display the Indeterminate state, it looks the same as the Checked state.

The proposed patch uses SystemColors.ControlDark instead of SystemColors.ControlDarkDark to draw a checkbox for the Indeterminate state. This doesn't exactly match the Microsoft .Net behavior, but it does distinguish much better between Checked and Indeterminate. (SystemColors.ControlDarkDark is too close to Color.Black!)
