Xcode syncing breaks when the filesystem doesn't support hard links. We should detect such failures and fall back to file copying.

lluis, I'm not sure what the rules on backporting are, but 5914fd25 is a good candidate i think so I'll backport it for 2.8. Are there plans for respinning another 2.8 or how will this just end up in 2.8.1?
