It works for me. However this line from your logs gives an hint:

Apr 2 14:22:38 Xamarins-iPad-846 Calendars[1385] <Warning>: Access denied by user.

^ is it possible you answered "Don't Allow" to access the Calendar ?

Maybe it did not ask this time, but someone alaready answered "Don't Allow" for this application on the device ?

Can you go and try (in Settings / Privacy) to turn on access and see if it works ?

Note: those privacy checks are not done in the simulaotr(only on devices)

On my side I'll check what happens when the access is refused (it's likely some code path that was never tested).

Fixed in monotouch-samples abdfbe8f14e62af4c060fb2b46f7dfcc424e905b

The app was likely not fullytested on devices (for Debug* configuration) since the UI thread checks were added.

* by default the linker removes the UI thread checks from Release builds

I have checked this issue with the following builds:
All MAC
XS 4.2.4(build 266)
X.iOS 7.2.2.14
monotouch-samples-master e1fdf01bab7bf65ae05ab2cb1c77770aa7f3e653

Now Calendar app is working fine on device also.Hence closing this issue.
