After completing a build all with errors, the currently open code editor files lose syntactic highlighting (see attachment). If I click "Changes", the highlighting return works in both editors. Also, a file opened via the error pad will display properly except the "Source" to "Merge" menu at the bottom is missing.
This has happened three times today.
Attachment is missing. In which type of file does this happen ?
When that happens can you check if there are exceptions in the log files ?

Code editor highlight syntax bug
I downloaded and added a.vssettings from studiostyl.es and haven't had the problem. My coworker is still using default and oblivion styles has the problem. If that helps.
I was wrong. The syntax highlighting doesn't work with a.vssettings. I let Xamarin Studio sit open over night and now when I scroll down on a code page the syntax highlighting is gone.
I doubt if it has something to do with the specific highlighting.
I still can't repro the issue - I'll try to let it run for a while, maybe that helps.
Btw. the next time it happens can you go to the options and turn off the semantic highlighting and see if it fixes the issue in the buffer ? (Don't reopen the document, let it open)
Turning off the preferences doesn't help.
Now all of us except Stephen experience the issue. Three using 4.0.2 or 4.0.3 and one using the alpha channel. This issue started when we upgraded to 4.0.2. The 4.0.2 version fixed the issue where an unnecessary using statement was difficult to see. All of us use Mac OS.
It seems to happen after a build with errors or crash or letting Xamarin Studio sit untouched for a long time. Use the mouse wheel to scroll up and down the file and the previously hidden text will not have syntax highlighting.
Ok seems I've fixed that already.
