Screenshot of the issue

When using MonoDevelop 4.0, the text editor does not render anything, even though right-clicking still responds correctly.

I have also tried compiling from source myself using the latest version and the issue still persists in master.

I'm running OpenSUSE 12.3 with the ATI FGLRX driver (I have tried without that driver and the issue persists using non-accelerated drivers).

I have attached a screenshot of the issue. This is a pretty critical issue as 4.0 is literally unusable while this issue persists.

Looks like this might be a duplicate of https://bugzilla.xamarin.com/show_bug.cgi?id=10564, although that report says it's fixed in master, which I've tried.

I'll give disabling oxygen-gtk a shot and see if that fixes it, but it might be worthwhile to detect and warn about issues with Qt's GTK subsystem if it's currently active.

Disabling oxygen-gtk fixes it and since I've been trying to get this work for 2 days straight, I'll leave it at that.

Master does have code to detect the theme and change it, isn't that working for you?
Comment 4 Mike Krüger 2013-03-10 03:20:37 UTC
We can need your help here. Turn on the default (failing) theme again.

Open
monodevelop/main/src/core/MonoDevelop.Ide/MonoDevelop.Ide/IdeStartup.cs

Goto line 399. And add:

Console.WriteLine (">"+requestedTheme+"<");

Exit & take the string and put it in line 387 as new entry in FailingGtkThemes.

Then restart - if the theme gets detected it would be helpful if you give us the correct theme name which fails. ("oxygen-gtk" is in the list)

btw. just checked - the theme gets detected for me (on ubuntu).
