Description PJ 2013-03-01 16:49:51 UTC
We are blocking indie and starter users from using android-support-v4.jar: http://screencast.com/t/umYdO1LFT

We should not block them from using support4.

Sorry, I mistyped - we're preventing only Starter users from using Support4, but starter should indeed be able to use Support4.

Fixed in master/b47d4ec1.

Today we have checked this issue with following builds:

X.S 4.0 - 2be9833ca58a68b3d64be96a40ab7e149647fed1
Xamarin.Android - 4.6.01042
Mono- 2.10.11 (mono-2-10/2baeee2)

Now we are able to add Android-support-v4.jar for starter user.

Changing the status to Verified.

I don't think the whitelisting was added by 4.6.01042 - perhaps you only added the .jar and didn't build it?

To verify this case, please run the Support4 sample, or be sure you actually use the whitelisted jar (not just add it).

Setting back to RESOLVED, please re-VERIFY.

Comment #3 is wrong: commit master/b47d4ec1 does NOT address this scenario. It addresses a different scenario, which I had mistakenly thought overlapped with this one.

The android-support-v4.jar fix is in master/308cb374.

This fix should be in 4.6.1-64.

What is approximated release date of 4.6.1?

BTW, after I delete Mono.Android.Support.v4 from references of my test project, error about requiring higher license stay here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Xamarin\Android\Xamarin.Android.Common.targets(3,3): Error XA9002: Linking with `android-support-v4.jar` (native code) requires Indie (or higher) License. (XA9002) (menu2)
